
In Georgia, about 3.5 thousand people received driver's licenses in the first half of 2024.
From January 1 to June 30, the number of new license holders was 3,461, of which 2,966 were Georgian citizens, and the rest were foreigners and stateless persons, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A driver's license in the country can be obtained from the age of 16. At this age, it is allowed to apply for a license to drive a moped, ATV, and tricycle. From the age of 17, it is possible to obtain a license to drive a motorcycle with an engine capacity of less than 125 cubic centimeters, a passenger car (without the right to carry passengers and work as a taxi) and a tractor.
In the first six months of 2024, 19 teenagers aged 16 and 132 people aged 17 received their first license. Women predominate in the total number of new drivers in Georgia: 2,229 women have obtained their licenses in six months, the youngest of whom is 17 years old and the oldest is 70 years old.
